Stiles Dam, Leicester MA
Stiles Dam, a 19th century private dam, was cited by the MA Dam Safety Commission with chronic leakage. The Commission ordered a 6’ reduction in lake depth. The general contractor hired by the owner association contracted NSI to install a 90’ cofferdam for the new gatehouse and 500’ of coated steel sheets for a cutoff wall. The project met a number of technical challenges and deadlines. Resulting in a renewal of the DSF Certificate of Safety in 2017 and a return to the permitted pool depth for the lake.
