Foundation/Excavation Shoring Systems
Shoring is required to stabilize an excavation when an open cut dig is impractical or impossible. OSHA regulations dictate when slope stabilization must be employed. Sheet piling offers a practical solution to permit installation of subsurface tanks and pump stations, retention walls and building foundations. NSI professional engineers can assess and design sheeting systems to meet the most demanding applications.
Seawall and Shoreline Protection
The New England seacoast, noted for its fierce Nor’easters and hurricanes driving heavy wave surge puts tremendous pressure on the integrity of seawalls and shoreline facilities. NSI has recently completed a suite of projects tied to repairing seawalls, upgrading obsolete ramps and docks and a new intake for a drinking water supply.
Dam Rehabilitation
NSI has worked on a number of aging dams to restore structural integrity and improve safety profile. Each of these projects involved cofferdams for subsurface construction and in one case the installation of over 500 feet of a sheet pile cut off wall to mitigate water infiltration.
